The Respiratory System Protocols

BRONCHITIS:

Bronchitis can be either a chronic or acute inflammation of the airways leading to and from the lungs which then become swollen.  This is usually then further complicated by a secondary bacterial or viral infection, leading to an overproduction of thick, infected mucus which if left untreated may damage the tissues in the lungs.  Pneumonia may be a complication.

Factors Affecting Bronchitis:

-         Smoking and other forms of air pollution

-         Infections of the upper respiratory tract spreading downward

Symptoms and Signs of Bronchitis:

-         Begins with a morning cough (usually productive), becoming more persistent as the disease progresses

-         Sometimes pain in the upper chest made worse by the cough

-         Mild fever (if acute)
